The Texpats, the latest musical venture including San Antonio-bred musician Rachel Laven, started out as a way for her and two other singer/songwriters to help each other through a rough patch.
Laven, Grace Pettis and Natalie Price began sharing a house together in Nashville, and they often found themselves singing on the screened-in back porch.
“I’d gone through a divorce, and I think all three of us had gone through pretty rough breakups in some form or fashion and so we were looking for a place to heal and recoup and find sisterhood,” Laven said. “So that was kind of the start of it. Natalie was going to move in with me, and Grace was moving at the same time — she had been living in Nashville for a little bit — and it just made sense for the three of us to move in together. And that was kind of the start of a band.”
The Texpats are launching their first tour as a trio. The Texas leg includes a gig at The Lonesome Rose in San Antonio as well as shows in Austin, Waller, Dallas, McKinney and Amarillo…
