Clinton community mourns loss of graduate killed in crash

CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Clinton community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Ashlee Sumrall, the recent Clinton High School graduate who died during a car crash in Jackson this weekend.

Those who knew Sumrall said she was a bright light in the community. Laci Pittman, a family friend, said the teenager’s kindness, creativity and contagious smile touched many in the city.

“She was very bright. Also very kind, very caring, very carefree. Big smile, very talented,” Pittman said.

Pittman grew up with Sumrall’s parents and later got to know the teen through her boutique, where Sumrall showcased her own small business and eventually worked alongside her…
