JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Business owners in downtown Jackson said they are ready to see more people visiting, shopping and dining in the area. Many hope empty buildings will soon be filled with new businesses as efforts continue to revitalize downtown.
Joe Oliverius, a barista at Just Vanilla Coffee Bar Downtown, said the shop has remained open since launching in December, but customer traffic can be unpredictable.

“I feel like there’s a lack of people visiting downtown for multiple things,” Oliverius said. “They’re usually coming here for one thing and leaving, not walking around.”
