CLAY COUNTY — Arraignment is this afternoon in Clay County for a Ridgeland, Mississippi man who is charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, on Friday law enforcement went to North Kansas City Hospital for a reported cutting. Officers contacted the victim, who claimed she was attacked by her child’s father, Christopher McLain. According to the victim’s and witness’s testimonies, unprovoked, McLain repeatedly punched and stabbed the victim while she was napping while the three individuals were driving home from St. Joseph. Officers later made contact with McLain and took him into custody. In his formal statement, McLain said the victim woke up from her nap and began striking him first, so he fought back in self-defense…
