JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Each year, colleges and universities around the state contribute thousands of dollars in scholarships to the Miss Mississippi delegates. Four state universities are represented this year, and those contestants say they are proud to show support for their campuses as they compete for the crown.
Miss Mississippi State University, Karolina Heathcock, made the top 11 last year. She says it was an honor, but this year she is especially proud to represent MSU.
“I’ve been a Mississippi State fan since I was a very young child. I always went into Davis Wade for football games and just to have the support from all the administration and several of the students just rooting for me”, said Heathcock.
