Mississippi Supreme Court to hear appeal in double murder conviction

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Supreme Court will hear an appeal in a double murder conviction stemming from a 2023 shooting near the Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade in downtown Jackson.

Jordan Cummins was convicted and sentenced to life in 2024 for killing 27-year-old Joshua Spann and 23-year-old Auden Jubilee Simpkins in downtown Jackson. The State Court of Appeals upheld Cummins’ convictions and life sentences.

Cummins is claiming self-defense, saying he was trying to protect his family. He admitted to police he fired a whole clip, killing Spann and Simpkins…
