Jackson maintaining JTRAN services amid strike, city says

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Leaders with the City of Jackson said they’re working with MV Transportation to maintain JTRAN services for residents during the ongoing strike.

According to the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local-1208, they have been unable to reach a deal with MV Transportation, the JTRAN contractor. They claimed the contractor has engaged in unfair labor practices.

City officials said as of July 15, 2026, 11 out of 12 fixed-route buses are in operation, and all paratransit trips for elderly and disabled riders have been covered at 100% for the third consecutive day.
