JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Jackson Public School District is launching a campaign this school year aimed at spotlighting student achievements as a counterpoint to rising violence across the city.
The effort, known online as the “#NotMe” campaign, features students from across the district sharing their goals and plans for the future.
Students step forward
Brooklynn Jefferson, a junior at Murrah High School, is among those participating. At 16, she said she is weighing four college options and exploring career paths including journalism, healthcare and music.
“We’re the future, so if we start now, generations that are behind us will rise up,” Jefferson said. “And do the same. They’re going to follow what they see.”…
