Deion Sanders faced criticism for supporting the Protect College Sports Act, and economist and commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins has now questioned whether the Colorado coach’s stance on college athlete compensation is consistent with his own career decisions.
Sanders has publicly supported efforts to introduce more structure into the NIL and revenue-sharing for college athletics. The Protect College Sports Act, which passed the U.S. Senate 77-22 on Sept. 28, would establish federal standards for athlete compensation, transfers, and other areas of college sports.
