Two Central Mississippi Correctional Facility inmates die

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Two inmates, who were being held at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF), have died.

Rankin County Coroner David Ruth identified the inmates as Albert Hickombottom and Janice Mowdy. The deaths occurred on Tuesday, January 23 at local hospitals.

Mississippi teen missing for more than six months

Ruth said no foul play is suspected. Their bodies will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

According to MDOC’s website, Hickombottom was serving 10 years in prison for gratification of lust after being convicted in Adams County. He was sentenced in 2022.

Mowdy was serving life in prison after being convicted of capital murder in Scott County. She was sentenced in 2009.
