RICHLAND, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A local eatery is getting national recognition as one of America’s best restaurants.
Tom’s Fried Pies, located in Richland, was nominated for the show by its loyal customers. The restaurant opened in 2011 with founder Tom Cook, and it’s now run by his daughter, Vickie.
The family said this is a culmination of years of hard work.

“After years and years of serving a good pies that we just got, I guess, better and better at it. And that’s how we got here,” said Tom Cook.
“I never thought that I would be working with my dad. You know, of course you think you grow up, you get your career, you go do something. But when he called me to come back and helping several years ago a little bit, which started into a lot. It has been a blessing, though. I will have all those great memories. My kids have the great memories of being with him, so it’s been, it’s been fun,” said Vickie Chapman.
