In the last week you may have seen a social media post that went viral showing a toddler wearing only a diaper at the Walmart in Byram, MS during cold winter weather.
Byram police have now arrested the child’s mother, Kambria Darby. She faces a child neglect charge. According to police, Child Protective Services were called. The toddler was released to an approved relative.
Former Walmart employee Felecia Darling says the boy’s mom entered the store and put him in a shopping basket only wearing a diaper. Gathering proof of the shocking event, she started recording the shivering baby. After several customers confronted the boy’s mother about his condition, the mother then took off her coat and placed around the baby.
In an interview with WLBT, Channel 3, Felecia Darling said ”You’re a mother, a child represents you,”. She went on to say “if you come in the store fully clothed and your son is not, that shows a lot about your character and that shows a lot that you don’t care. How could you come in Walmart fully dressed knowing it’s a lot of people watching you? She probably thought nobody was going to step up, but, you know, we did.”
