Woman living in Rankin Co. sentenced after assuming name, identity of U.S. citizen

RICHLAND, Miss. (WLBT) – A judge sentenced a woman living in Richland to 24 months in prison for aggravated identity theft. Court documents show that Customs and Border Patrol officers arrested Elena Cortez-Acosta, 51, in 2000 for attempting to smuggle 23.84 kilograms of marijuana in the backseat of her vehicle.
