HINDS COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Hinds County is preparing for the presidential primary in March, but there are a few concerns.
Mississippi’s primary election will be held on March 12, 2024.
After the 2023 General Election, some Hinds County residents were frustrated due to a ballot shortage at some polling locations.
The General Election is run by the county, while the presidential primary is run by the Republican and Democratic parties. However, the Hinds County Election Commission has agreed to assist the parties with the primary election.

Both Republican and Democratic parties said they’re confident there won’t be any problems.
“They’ve identified what the problem is currently, and they’re going to address those issues, and they’re going to make sure we have enough ballots for the primary,” said Rep. Robert Johnson III (D-District 94).
“We’re in pretty good shape. I mean, here’s a little more than a month away, and it’s a short time frame for these presidential elections to come from the November. It’s a little compressed, but we’re running about on schedule,” said Pete Perry, former chairman of the Hinds County Republican Party.
