15-year-old named Mississippi’s 2024 Children’s Miracle Network Champion

JACKSON, Miss. – A 15-year-old who has been a patient of Children’s of Mississippi since she was an infant has been given a big honor. Ava Clarke Edney was named Monday as Mississippi’s 2024 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion. Edney was diagnosed with albinism, a condition in which the body produces little to no melanin. She is also legally blind with nystagmus, which causes repetitive and involuntary eye movements. She also has an astigmatism that causes blurred distance and near vision.
