JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Cloudy and much warmer as we start our Thursday, with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s this morning. Gloomy conditions will last through much of the day today, but we should remain dry for this afternoon and most of tomorrow. Unfortunately, heavy rain still looks likely as we head into the weekend, so make sure to have a backup plan if you were trying to get outdoors! As far as timing and impacts, we expect a cold front to begin pushing in Saturday morning bringing increasing rain chances. More widespread and heavier rain will begin after the lunchtime hours and move through in a southeasterly direction. No severe weather is expected, but thunderstorms are. We will get a very short break from the rain early Sunday before another system moves through increasing rain and thunderstorm potential. This will last through Sunday night, and by Monday we will see things begin to dry back up. Combined totals from these events will be between 1-3 inches.
