BRANDON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The Rankin County Chamber and the City of Brandon hosted the 5th Annual Krewe De Roux Festival this weekend.
People gathered at the Brandon Amphitheater on Saturday to enjoy a Gumbo Cook-off and a classic car show. Organizers said nearly 50 teams provided sample-sized gumbo in hopes of winning best gumbo and fan favorite.

“We place every year. This is the 5 th year doing it. It’s a big event. We enjoy it every year. The City of Brandon put on a huge deal. We’re just glad to be out here,” said Blake Spiers, a contestant.
The event also had a king cake contest, a kid zone, and live music. Car lovers were able to browse through a large collection of unique cars in the parking lot of the amphitheater.
“It’s good for the community. It’s always a nice fundraiser, and everybody loves to see these old cars,” said Kevin Langford, a car show participant.
Community Bank was the winner of the Gumbo Cook-off.
