Canton man accused of killing wife denied bond

CANTON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Bond has been denied for a Canton man accused of killing his wife in January 2024.

The Madison County Journal reported Myles Johnson made his initial appearance in Canton Municipal Court last week.

Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said the department received a call just before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30 from Johnson.

Brown said Johnson reported that his wife, 53-year-old Kristie Johnson, had been shot.

When an officer arrived at the home on East Fulton Street, the victim was found on a bed. She had been shot once. The police chief said Johnson was detained at the location.

Investigators said Johnson admitted to getting into a fight with his wife on Monday, January 29. They believe the shooting happened on January 29.

Johnson was charged with murder and booked into the Madison County Jail.
