Motorcylist arrested after leading high-speed chase on Mississippi interstate during lunch hour

A Mississippi motorcyclist is under arrest after leading officers on a high-speed chase through lunch-hour traffic on the interstate Monday.

WLBT in Jackson reports that Justin Jerome Gatlin, 30, of Jackson, was arrested after a Pearl Police officer observed him operating a motorcycle with no tag, traveling at a high rate of speed near US 80 and Bass Pro Drive in Pearl.

When the officer tried to make a traffic stop, Gatlin reportedly refused to pull over and attempted to outrun the police officer. Gatlin then proceeded to get on Interstate 55 and headed north toward Jackson.

Leading the chase into Jackson, Gatlin reportedly exited on High Street, lost control of the motorcycle, and then crashed. Police report that Gatlin sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

While taking him into custody, officers found a gun on him.

Gatlin has been charged with Felony Fleeing, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Reckless Driving, No Tag, and No Insurance.
