Sweet Potato Queens attend events ahead of St. Paddy’s parade

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – People gathered at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson to celebrate the Sweet Potato Queens.

Sweet Potato Queen’s Weekend began on Wednesday and will end on Sunday.

On Friday, attendees were at Drago’s Seafood Restaurant in Jackson for a “Big Hat Brunch.” Everyone created unique hats that will be showed off at the Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade and Festival on Saturday.

Jill Conner Browne, an author and Sweet Potato Queen, said each day is filled with great events and prizes.

Sweet Potato Queen’s Weekend raises funds for Children’s of Mississippi.
