Fallen tree causes power outage in Byram

BYRAM, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Nearly 2,000 customers in the City of Byram are without power.

According to officials with Entergy Mississippi, a tree fell on the powerline outside of the company’s substation when workers, not associated with the company, were doing vegetation maintenance for a mobile home park.

The outage is affecting 1,873 customers.

Byram police said the I-55 South Exit at Siwell Road (Exit 85) will be closed at 4:45 p.m., and traffic will be diverted to the Wynndale Road Exit. The Siwell Road exit will reopen once power is restored.

Entergy’s website stated that power should be restored by 6:35 p.m. on Monday, July 1.
