Jackson church holds prayer walk after member killed in stabbing

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Jackson church responded to recent violence in the city with a prayer walk after one of their members was stabbed to death inside her home.

Representatives of New Horizon Church International were joined by local residents and the family of Margaret Washington on Wednesday. The 58-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside her home on Exchange Drive on Monday, September 23.

Jackson police said a family member discovered Washington’s body inside her bedroom. She had been stabbed multiple times.

“It’s very hard. It’s very hard. It was so sudden. I was at work. We worked together, and she didn’t come, and we went looking for her and to find her that way… it was heartbreaking. And it was… it was beyond devastating. And words can’t put you can’t put into words how how we felt and what we went through,” said Tondee Clincy, Washington’s niece.

Police said Washington’s vehicle was stolen and found the same day in South Jackson. They are still searching for the suspect responsible for Washington’s death.
