Woman Arrested, Charged with Stealing Checks and Mail from Mailboxes in Rankin, Madison, and Hinds

A theft operation involving stolen checks and mail from Rankin, Madison, and Hinds County mailboxes has been discovered, and as a result a woman has been arrested.

Jecyn Leigh Nino was arrested during a traffic stop after being identified by the Criminal Investigations Division as the suspect in an investigation launched by Rankin Count Sheriff’s Department. The investigation concerned fraudulent charges at local convenience stores throughout the county.

After her arrest, more information was discovered that revealed that Nino was staying in Rankin County at an Airbnb. After obtaining a search warrant for the property, investigators discvoered approximately 200 pieces of stolen mail and roughly 150 stolen checks. Nino was revealed to have been stealing checks out of the mailboxes.

Nino will be facing multiple charges. They include two counts of credit card fraud, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm.

According to Darkhorse Press, the investigation spans multiple counties and jurisdiction, and more charges from the state may be filed as victims come forward.
