Jackson police chief swears in four experienced officers

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Four officers have rejoined the Jackson Police Department (JPD).

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said he wants to continue to recruit and retain the most qualified people, adding that they will reduce crime by working together with their law enforcement partners and the community.

Jackson police will receive new license plate readers

The police chief also said the department is cracking down on crime in the capital city. In the next few months, JPD will be doing a last quarter blitz, which is coming up with ways to engage and embrace the community.

Wade said JPD has multiple events lined up for Jackson residents. He hopes to have enough people to participate in the Citizens’ Police Academy that will start later this month. Those who wish to attend the academy can contact Wade’s office at 601-960-2740.

The department is also working alongside Jackson State University (JSU) to host a crime summit in November.
