PEARL, Miss. – Firefighters, along with officials from across the state, gathered to honor the firefighters who’ve lost their lives in the past year. “It’s important that we recognize people who are willing to risk their life to save somebody else’s life. I think there’s no greater commandment than that, someone that would lay down their life to save a life of a friend,” said Mike Chaney, Mississippi commissioner of insurance and state fire marshal.
