Representing Mississippi are Miss Mississippi Becky Williams and Miss Mississippi’s Teen Brooke Bumgarner. Executive director of the Miss Mississippi Corporation David Blackledge said Friday that both young women were doing well in the competition.

“Both are in good spirits, and both are doing very well in the competitions and feel like they have done their best,” Blackledge said.

During the Miss America preliminary evening gown competition Wednesday, Williams was named one of three winners.

“We are very proud of her,” Blackledge said following the competition.

For the final round of both the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen Competitions, Blackledge said 11 competitors will re-compete for the title, the top 10 contestants and the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
