JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A few scattered showers across the area this afternoon are creating a wide range in temperatures. Highs will generally be in the mid to upper 70s once the rain clears, but a few of you could make it to the low 80s. Thursday will bring a return of widespread low to mid-80s among mostly dry conditions.
Friday will be breezy with warm temperatures, but an increase in shower potential. By Friday night, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected, and that coverage will continue into our Saturday. With that said, our Saturday unfortunately looks like a washout. The good news is that these storms are not expected to become severe.
Sunday will be mostly dry with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, but that warm weather will prime the environment for severe storms Sunday night. Scattered strong to severe storms are expected as a cold front pushes into the area late Sunday through early Monday. Threats will this system will be damaging wind, hail, or even tornadoes. For now, the whole area is under a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms. Continue to check back as we get more details…
