25 illegal immigrants arrested in Rankin County

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Twenty-five illegal immigrants were arrested during a joint operation in the Pearl area of Rankin County.

According to a release, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and the US Department of Homeland Security Division of US Customs & Border Protection conducted a joint operation called “Operation Magnolia” along the Interstate 20 corridor within the county from March 17 to March 21.

The release stated that the goal of the operation was to disrupt both drug and human trafficking in the area of operations, which can present with illegal immigrants being transported from one area to another for the purposes of either sex or labor trafficking…
