JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will impact the area this afternoon ahead of a system that will bring widespread stormy weather overnight. I would keep the rain gear on hand just in case and go ahead and prepare for potential severe weather before tonight. The timing for our First Alert Weather Day is from 10 PM to 10 AM on Monday. During that timeframe, severe storms will move in that will be capable of producing damaging wind, large hail, or spin-up tornadoes. Flash flooding cannot be ruled out as a possibility, especially in places where you saw decent rainfall yesterday.
By Monday afternoon, better weather will make a return. It will also be slightly “cooler” than today (where highs will be in the mid-80s). Tuesday will also be quiet, but a warming trend will begin again with highs already back in the 80s. By Wednesday, more stormy weather will be possible. This will be just the beginning of what looks to be a very unsettled pattern through Sunday night.
