A powerful tornado, confirmed by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson as a high-end EF-2, struck Lamar and Marion counties in Mississippi early Monday morning, resulting in widespread damage across several communities.
The tornado is believed to have touched down around 6:30 a.m. on March 31, 2025, with the most significant destruction concentrated in the Pine Burr community and the southwest corner of Lamar County, near Baxterville.
Local emergency management agencies (EMAs) reported severe damage to homes and infrastructure, particularly in Lamar County. The Lamar County EMA issued reports of extensive damage along Johnson Road, McGraw Road, Luther Saucier Road, and Prosperous Bridge Road.
