Fifth Circuit reverses, remands decision granting JXN Water SNAP data

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A ruling handed down by the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals could deal a major blow to JXN Water’s plans to provide reduced rates to impoverished customers.

On Thursday, the Fifth reversed and remanded U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate’s decision ordering the state and federal government to release SNAP data to Interim Third-Party Manager Ted Henifin.

SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Thousands of customers in Jackson receive the assistance and are therefore eligible to receive a $30 reduction on their monthly water bills as a result…
