Little Rock, Ark. – Severe thunderstorms capable of producing 70 mph wind gusts and hail up to 2 inches in diameter are expected to slam portions of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee through 9 p.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for central and southern Arkansas, north-central Mississippi, and southwest Tennessee. The alert was issued at 2:05 p.m. CDT as storms begin intensifying into supercells that could evolve into damaging clusters by early evening.
Cities under the watch include Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Tupelo, Oxford, and Jackson, Tenn. Emergency managers warn of the potential for downed trees, power outages, and minor structural damage.
