JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Jackson Public School District (JPS) announced two employees have been placed on administrative leave after the district identified unauthorized and improper disbursements of funds ($221,000) through an internal audit.
According to JPS, the audit was conducted by the district’s finance team.

The two employees have not been identified. JPS officials said they’ve implemented safeguards to prevent further unauthorized actions. The matter was also reported to the State Auditor’s Office for further review and guidance.
“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of accountability and financial integrity,” said Earl Burke, JPS Chief Finance and Operations Officer. “These actions are unacceptable, and we are pursuing all necessary steps to correct the issue and prevent recurrence.”…
