VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has published a Revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement (RDEIS) for the Pearl River Basin Mississippi Federal Flood Risk Management Project to the Federal Register and is available for public viewing today, July 3, 2025. The statement evaluates flood risk management alternatives in Rankin and Hinds County, Mississippi.
The release of the RDEIS marks a major milestone in the project’s development and will initiate a 45-day public comment period, which will remain open until August 18, 2025. The original Draft EIS was released to the public on June 7, 2024. In response to significant public input and receiving more than six thousand comments, the Corps is releasing a revised draft to further refine the alternatives.
