Salvation Army, Atmos team up to help with energy bills

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Salvation Army will host its Energy Assistance Blitz on July 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Center on Beasley Road in Jackson.

The event is designed to help residents who may need critical assistance with their rising energy bills during the summer season. The Salvation Army and Atmos Energy will offer support to eligible individuals and families in the Greater Jackson Area, including Copiah, Hinds, Madison, Rankin, Scott, Warren and Yazoo counties.

In partnership with Atmos Energy, the Salvation Army will offer support to eligible individuals and families needing help with gas bill payments or facing the risk of service disconnection.

“We understand that many in our community are facing financial hardships, especially during the hottest time of the year,” said Major Timothy Delaney. “Through the generosity of Atmos Energy and the dedication of our team and volunteers, we’re committed to ensuring that families don’t always have to choose between staying cool and putting food on the table.”

What to Expect

  • On-site eligibility screenings and application assistance
  • One-on-one help from trained volunteers and Salvation Army staff
  • Information on long-term energy saving programs and community resources
  • Walk-ins welcome; however, early arrival is strongly encouraged

What to Bring

  • Must be an ATMOS Energy customer and the bill must be in the applicant’s name
  • Must bring a photo ID
  • Must bring a copy of the last bill and/or account number
  • No appointment necessary
  • This event will be busy with limited space. For everyone’s safety and comfort, organizers asked attendees to not bring children.
