‘I knew everything that transpired was illegal’: New details emerge in Canton bribery scheme trial

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A former Canton city alderman claims he was instructed to sign a statement swearing Rudy Warnock never bribed him in exchange for city contracts, at the urging of Warnock himself.

That and other details of an alleged bribery scheme involving former Canton city leaders emerged Wednesday in U.S. District Court, as testimony continued from former Alderman Andrew Grant and former Alderman Eric Gilkey.

Both men were indicted along with Warnock and former CMU Commissioner Cleveland Anderson back in 2021. The two agreed to testify against their co-conspirators in exchange for plea deals the following year…
