PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) hosted a public meeting on Thursday in Pearl.
Residents gathered at Pearl City Hall to learn more about proposed changes to U.S. 80 and State Route 468. The forum gave community members the chance to view detailed plans and speak one-on-one with MDOT officials.

“We knew that we had some issues along the Highway 80 corridor from Bierdeman to the McLaurin Shopping Center. And we had this open lane, which every two weeks, people were having wrecks and sustaining injury. So, we knew that was an issue. So, we submitted that stretch of road on Highway 80 as a project,” said Pearl Mayor Jake Windham.
The mayor hopes work can begin in the fall.
