Byram’s newest K9 officer just got a little safer thanks to a donation from a non-profit that works to provide protective vests for police dogs.
In around 10 weeks, K9 Zeus will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. Zeus’s vest was sponsored by Mari Deese of Norco, CA and will be inscribed with the message, “In memory of Hyde.”
Hyde was a German Shepherd mix who died in January. The vest sponsor said in an email, “He was described by my dear friend as her ‘soul mate’ and truly was a faithful, loving and integral part of the family. Hyde was a homebody with a big personality, a love for toys and soft blankets. I hope Zeus is safe in his vest and the memory of Hyde will live on through him.”
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., which was established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs in law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
