Mostly dry conditions will allow for hot weather this weekend

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Saturday morning has begun above average temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and mostly clear skies. This trend will continue into the afternoon as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s. Aside from an isolated shower and thunderstorm in the afternoons and evenings, we expect to see lots of sunshine with heat index values between 105 and 110 in some areas. Even without an official heat advisory, conditions remain potentially dangerous—so stay cool, drink plenty of water, and avoid extended time outdoors during the peak afternoon heat. This sums up this weekend and much of next week.

Rain chances become more isolated heading into the weekend and the following week, allowing high temperatures to warm into the mid to upper 90s. Despite this, humidity will stay relatively consistent, meaning that heat index values could approach 110 for multiple days heading into next week…
