JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – An event is serving up excitement in Jackson. The “Preview to ATA Nationals” isn’t just about tennis, it’s about community.
According to organizers, the event was a preview of the growing partnership between the American Tennis Association and the U.S. Tennis Association.
There was a time when African Americans were not allowed to compete in major tournaments like the U.S. Open. Events like the one in Jackson this weekend represent how far the sport has come and how much further it can go.
