JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Non-profits are working together to transform vacant businesses little by little in South Jackson into viable operations. New Horizon Ministries and Riverside Collective join forces to create young entrepreneurs and change the landscape.
Among the many abandoned massive businesses on Terry Road sits one building, purchased by non-profits in hopes of revitalizing the dying south Jackson business corridor. This weekend, a ribbon cutting introduced Riverside Collective Coffee and Ice Cream Shop to the area.
It is surrounded by vacant structures, a former Kroger, Walgreens, Burger King, and more. New Horizon Ministries Inc. acquired the 1,000 square foot building in 2020. It is now owned by the non-profit Riverside Collective. Inside are plans to improve lives…
