Hinds CC offers training for Amazon Web Services data centers

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Hinds Community College (HCC) Jackson campus will offer a four-week paid training program to help anyone looking for a way to get in on the ground floor of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

AWS is investing $10 billion to build two data center complexes in two Madison County industrial parks, which is projected to create at least 1,000 new jobs in the state.

Students learn skills at Madison Career and Technical Center

The I2PA AWS Information Infrastructure Pre-Apprenticeship program at HCC will train participants to enter careers at those data centers and will pay them for 30 hours’ worth of work each week for the four weeks of training.

“Since data centers are new to our area, people may not understand the opportunities for high-wage, high-demand jobs the data centers bring with them,” said Dr. Ginger Robbins, vice president of Workforce Development and Governmental Affairs. “The I2PA training program exposes participants to skills needed to build, connect, power and operate data centers – and provides pathways to further training and employment.”…
