Power outage planned in downtown Jackson for Entergy repairs

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Entergy Mississippi officials announced crews will make emergency repairs to damaged underground circuits, which will require a temporary service disruption in some areas of downtown Jackson beginning at 2:00 p.m. on July 24.

According to the company, the affected area will be between Amite and Pascagoula streets to the north and south and between Mill and Lamar streets to the east and west.

Officials said the outage is necessary for workers to access underground equipment, to prevent further damage to the electrical grid and to minimize the duration of the outage. Additional crews have been brought in to assist with the repairs, which could take between 12 and 48 hours to complete.
