JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Summer time brings warmth and fun for many, but blood donation shortages also rise at this time.
The Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) has put out an urgent request for blood donations in Mississippi, citing a critical blood shortage for the request.

Blood donations tend to falter during the summer months, while the need for donations remains steady. According to America’s Blood Centers, patients require a blood transfusion every two seconds with more than 42,000 units of red blood cells, platelets, and plasma are used by patients every day.
Those who look to donate should be sure to bring a valid photo ID, eat a balanced meal within four hours, and stay well-hydrated before and after your donation. They accept walk ins, and will be hosting upcoming drives at these locations:
