Former University of Mississippi Medical Center doctor indicted in alleged incidents with teenage patients

A former University of Mississippi Medical Center doctor has been indicted stemming from alleged incidents with teenage patients.

A Hinds County Grand Jury has indicted Dr. Mehul Dixit on 25 counts related to the sexual gratification and sexual battery of vulnerable individuals. The indictments, announced by Attorney General Lynn Fitch, stem from alleged incidents occurring during clinical visits between 2013 and 2023.

Dr. Dixit, who previously specialized in pediatric nephrology at UMMC, faces 13 counts of gratification of lust of a vulnerable person and 12 counts of sexual battery of a vulnerable person. This follows previous accusations in May 2023 of fondling teenage patients…
