Relief on the Horizon: Cooler Temps and Lower Humidity Ahead

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -Another scorching day is on the way, with highs climbing into the mid-90s and heat indices reaching the low 100s. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the entire region, while areas west of I-55 are under an Extreme Heat Warning. If you’re planning to be outside, make sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade, and avoid strenuous activities during the peak heat of the afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible later today, and any that develop could bring gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and small hail. Be sure to stay weather-aware throughout the afternoon and evening hours as we remain under a Marginal risk for severe weather.

Relief is in sight as a cold front begins to move into the area. This will bring noticeable changes heading into the weekend and next week. Temperatures will return to near-average levels, and although rain chances will remain higher today and tomorrow, we’ll see lower humidity and drier conditions take hold by the weekend, leading to more comfortable weather as we move into the new week…
