Nine suspected opioid overdoses reported at Raymond Detention Center on July 9, internal memo reveals

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – An internal Hinds County Sheriff’s Department memo claims a detainee at the Raymond Detention Center likely died after a nurse practitioner refused to dispense Narcan following a drug overdose.

The July 31 memo, which was obtained exclusively by 3 On Your Side, reveals that nine detainees at RDC experienced symptoms of a “stimulant or opioid toxicity” during an incident on July 9, 2025.
