Jackson, MS – A refreshing shift is on the way for Mississippi as a cold front pushes through midweek, bringing the coolest air the state has felt since early summer. Overnight lows Wednesday into Thursday could dip into the upper 50s in some areas, a break from the long stretch of muggy August nights.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, much of northern and eastern Mississippi has a 30–50% chance of dropping below 60 degrees Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Cities including Columbus, Tupelo, and Meridian may feel the most noticeable change, with temperatures more typical of late September rather than late August.
Elsewhere across central Mississippi, lows are expected to fall into the low-to-mid 60s. While not as dramatic, forecasters note it will still be the coolest stretch since late May or early June. Residents may want to prepare for slightly cooler mornings, especially those heading out early for commutes, school, or outdoor work…
