RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies are searching for a suspect in connection to a livestock shooting.
The shooting occurred on Highway 469 near East Mountain Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. on August 18, 2025.
Hinds County crash kills woman, leaves sister injured
Investigator Tyler Burnell said deputies were notified by a cattle farmer about the shooting. The suspect was driving a white Ford F-250, four-door, diesel pickup truck with a loud exhaust.
After the shooting occurred, Burnell said the suspect apparently returned to the area then fled south on Highway 469 toward Simpson County.
This is an ongoing investigation in cooperation with the Mississippi Agricultural & Livestock Theft Bureau.
