Millage increase to support Reservoir Fire Department approved

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Rankin County Board of Supervisors approved a millage increase within the boundaries of the Reservoir Fire Department’s fire protection district.

The fire department said they’ve operated on the same budget for more than a decade, despite rising costs and growing demand. They proposed a millage increase in order to boost their fire protection levy from nine mills to 13.

The proposal was approved by supervisors on August 28, 2025.

“We’re going to use this for for multiple things. One, there’s going to be a new fire station coming online that the county is building on Holly Bush Road right in the middle of where our taxpayers currently live, that one of our other stations is serving.
